Games and streaks

The daily Sudoku, and how mistakes are scored

A full 9x9 Sudoku, with one fresh puzzle every day. A wrong number turns red the moment you enter it, so you always know exactly where to look.

Screenshots are on their way for this one.

Steps

  1. Open “Games” and tap “Sudoku”.
  2. Tap an empty square to select it. The numbers printed at the start are locked, so they can’t be tapped.
  3. Tap a number from 1 to 9 on the keypad under the grid.
  4. To clear the square you’re on, tap the backspace key.
  5. Keep filling squares until the whole grid is right. The mistake counter under the grid keeps track of wrong entries.

Tips

  • A red number is a nudge, not a wall. Fix it and carry on.
  • Because wrong numbers show up straight away, this makes a lovely first Sudoku for anyone who’s never tried one.
  • Mistakes cost points but never stop you. Each one takes off 7 points, up to a limit of 12, and the clock takes off 3 points a minute, up to 12 minutes. The puzzle completes the moment every square is correct.
