Your sign-in email can change, here’s how
The email address on your account is how you sign in and how friends invite you. Moved to a new address, or want one that people actually know? You can change it from inside the app in about a minute.
Screenshots are on their way for this one.
Steps
- Tap your picture in the top right and choose “My Profile”.
- Scroll down and tap “Metrics & Advanced Settings”.
- In the “Account” card, your current address sits under “Email”. Tap “Change”.
- Type the new address. If your account has a password, type that too, then tap “Send code”.
- Open the inbox of the new address and copy the six-digit code from Qbit’s email. It works for 30 minutes.
- Type the code and tap “Confirm new email”. From then on you sign in with the new address.
Tips
- Signed up with Google or Apple? You can still change it. Your Google or Apple sign-in keeps working, and the account now also answers to the new address.
- Hid your real address behind Apple’s private relay when you signed up? This is how you put an address other people know on your account, so friends can invite you by it.
- Every other phone and computer is signed out when the email changes. Sign in again there with the new address.
Good to know
Good to know: A note goes to your old address as well. If you did not make the change, that note has an undo button that works for 7 days: it puts the old address back and signs every device out.
